Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Walk&Own mobile game ("Walk&Own", "we", "us") collects, why, and what choices you have.
Who we are
Walk&Own is published by Kutlu Altun, an individual developer based in İstanbul, Türkiye, who is the data controller for the game. Contact: info@walkandown.com.
What we collect

| Precise location, only while you have pressed "Start walking" | To measure the distance you walk inside map zones and to check that the walk is real. We do not collect location in the background. |
| Step count / motion activity, only while walking | To compare steps with GPS distance so that cars, bikes and fake GPS do not count (anti-cheat). |
| Account details from Sign in with Apple or Google: name or nickname, email address | To create your account, restore it on a new phone and contact prize winners. |
| Year of birth and country | To apply age rules (cash prizes are 18+) and country rankings. |
| Game data: zones, decorations, sign names, team, badges, coins | To run the game and show your zones to other players. |
| Push notification token | To send game alerts you allow (attacks, rent, events). Quiet hours apply. |
| Purchase records (product, date, status) | To unlock items and subscriptions. Payments are handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details. |
| Optional health step data (Apple Health / Health Connect), only if you allow it | To show how far you walked while the game was closed. It never claims zones. |
What other players can see
Other players can see your nickname, the zones you own, your decorations and sign names, your team and rankings. Nobody can see your live location, your walking routes or when you are walking.
Sharing
We do not sell your data and we do not show third-party ads. We share data only with service providers that run the game for us, under contract:
- Supabase (database and accounts, EU – Frankfurt) and Google Firebase (website, notifications)
- Apple and Google (sign-in, purchases, app distribution)
- Expo (app updates and push notification delivery)
- Tremendous (only for prize winners: email address and prize amount, to deliver the gift card)
We may disclose information if required by law.
How long we keep data
- Walking routes used for anti-cheat checks: up to 90 days.
- Account and game data: while your account is active. Accounts with no activity for 24 months are deleted; we email you 30 days before.
- Prize and tax records: as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, withdraw consent and object to processing, under the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK), the EU/UK GDPR and similar laws. You can delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or as described on our account deletion page. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
Permissions you control
Location, motion, health data and notifications are optional and can be turned off at any time in your phone's settings. Without location you can browse the map but cannot claim zones.
Children
Walk&Own is not directed to children under 13 and they may not create an account. Players under 18 can play but cannot receive cash-value prizes.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside your country. We rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
Changes
We will post updates on this page and notify you in the app about important changes.
